Leak Testing of Radioactive Sources
According to the provisions of most radioactive materials licenses, leak tests are to be performed on sealed radioactive sources on a semi-annual basis by persons qualified to perform such services. Leak testing is done by obtaining a wipe sample from the source area and assaying the sample in a sensitive radiation detection instrument to ensure that no leakage of the source has occurred. The results of the leak test must be kept on file at the facility indefinitely and should be readily available for inspection purposes. Phoenix Technology Corporation is qualified and licensed to perform leak tests by one of the following methods: On-site visits: Our consultants will visit your site to obtain the wipe sample(s). We will then assay them and provide you with a certificate stating the results of the leak test, which may be posted for inspection purposes. Leak Test Kits: PTC will provide you with a leak test kit, complete with instructions and mailer, so that you may obtain your own wipe samples and submit them to us via mail for assay. We will then send you a certificate showing each source and stating the results of the test(s). Please call our office at 770.645.1440 for pricing and scheduling information.
